Privacy Policy

Last updated 4 August 2026 · Applies to the Deendar Android app (tech.texion.deendar) and the services behind it.

Deendar is a free Islamic companion app published by Texion: Quran, Hadith, duas, prayer times, Qibla direction, a Ramadan calendar and a personal deeds tracker. This policy explains exactly what the app collects, why, and who else sees it.

In short

  • You can read every part of the app without an account.
  • An account is needed only to save favourites and track your daily deeds, because those have to sync to somewhere.
  • Your location is used to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction. You can decline it and pick a city by hand instead.
  • We do not show ads, and we do not sell personal data.

What we collect

Nothing in this table is required to read the app's content. Each item is collected only when you use the feature it belongs to.

DataWhyRequired?

Chosen cityUsed instead of location if you decline the location permission.Optional
Email addressIdentifies your account when you sign in.Only with an account
Account identifiersAn internal account ID and a Texion Auth ID, used to link your saved data to you.Only with an account
App activityYour saved favourites and your deeds-tracker entries and selections.Only with an account
Notification tokenA device identifier issued by Firebase Cloud Messaging, so reminders and announcements can reach this device. Registered even without an account.Optional — turn notifications off
SettingsLanguage, theme, prayer calculation method, Asr method, time zone and notification preferences.Optional
Crash reports and diagnosticsStack traces and device model, OS version and app version when something fails, so we can fix it.Automatic

We do not collect your phone number, contacts, calendar, photos, microphone, camera, files, or browsing history. The app has no advertising and no advertising identifier.

How location is used

Prayer times depend on your position on the earth, so the app asks for location the first time it needs one — after explaining why, not before.

  • Location is read only while the app is open. The app does not request background location and cannot track you when it is closed.
  • Your coordinates are sent to our server, which requests timings from Aladhan (Islamic Network). Aladhan receives the coordinates and the date, and nothing that identifies you.
  • Results are cached against a coarse grid of roughly 5 km rather than your exact position, so the cache cannot be used to locate anyone.
  • If you decline the permission, prayer times still work — pick your city manually instead.
  • Your most recent coordinates are stored on your account, if you have one, so times are right the moment you open the app.

Who else sees your data

We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising. Data reaches:

  • Texion Auth — our own identity service, which handles sign-in and holds your email address and password. Deendar never receives your password. Your Texion sign-in can be used with more than one Texion app, so deleting your Deendar account disconnects it rather than deleting it — see below.
  • Google (Firebase) — Cloud Messaging (notifications) and Crashlytics (crash reports), acting as our service provider. Firebase is not used for sign-in.
  • Supabase — the database holding your account, settings and saved content, acting as our service provider.
  • Vercel — hosting for our server, acting as our service provider.
  • Aladhan (Islamic Network) — receives coordinates and a date to calculate prayer times. Because they are an independent service rather than a provider working under our instructions, we report this as data sharing on the Play Data Safety form.
  • EveryAyah.com — recitation audio streams from this site when you tap play on a verse, so it receives your IP address as any website would. Nothing is sent that identifies your account.

We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to investigate abuse of the service.

Security and retention

  • All traffic between the app and our servers uses HTTPS.
  • We never receive or store your password. Password sign-in is handled entirely by Texion Auth.
  • Account data is kept until you delete your account, at which point it is removed as described below.
  • Cached prayer times are deleted after seven days. Crash reports follow Firebase Crashlytics' own retention, currently 90 days.
  • Notification tokens are removed when you sign out or uninstall the app.

Deleting your account and data

Deleting your account removes your profile, saved favourites, deeds-tracker history and notification registrations, and disconnects your sign-in from Deendar. This cannot be undone.

  • In the app — Account → Delete account. Immediate.
  • Your Texion Auth sign-in is an account with Texion that can be used across more than one Texion app, in the same way a Google account can. Deleting your Deendar account removes Deendar’s access to it and signs you out everywhere, but does not delete the sign-in itself — it keeps working with any other Texion app. Signing in to Deendar again gives you a new, empty account.
  • To delete the Texion Auth sign-in as well, contact Texion at the address below and ask for the identity to be removed.
  • Without the app — use the account deletion page.

Using the app without an account leaves nothing to delete beyond the notification token, which uninstalling removes.

Children

Deendar is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or erase your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. The account screen covers access and erasure directly; for anything else, write to us and we will respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If our data practices change we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will also be announced in the app.
